The Key to Being a Happy Blogger
Give
Give
and give some more.
Giving is the key to blogging happiness. As bloggers, not many of us are out to make a fortune, but we do want some success. No one would put a blog online if only our families would read it. We do it to communicate the ideas we have stored inside of us and hopefully people notice and appreciate.
“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”
- Maya Angelou
You have to give and give until it feels like you can’t give any more because it’s at this spot that you’ll probably hit your “tipping point.” Maybe it’s a comment from a lonely person who tells you that your site saved their life, or maybe you’re able to quit your job because you are generating revenue from your blog. Whatever it is, you’ll be glad that you’re a blogger.
Don’t Do It for the Money
Blogging should not be done for the money. I started out blogging for money. The most I’ve ever made in one day is $3.03. I’ve realized it is a goal, but it’s no longer a priority because I was only making myself more miserable every time I checked my Google revenue page. That’s when I changed my mental position and decided that giving value was my number one concern.
The Love Will Be Returned
When you put yourself out there, spreading around your honest feelings, people will eventually come. There are no guarantees that you’ll have a large audience, but your niche audience will appreciate your thoughts.
And even if you are the Van Gogh of the blogging world, all that matters is that you gave to the rest of us.
